UTC spin-off company with $18B in revenue to be based in South Florida

 

United Technologies will base one of its spin-off companies in South Florida after announcing plans to split into three separate entities. On Nov. 26, Farmington, Connecticut-based company (NYSE: UTX) said it completed the acquisition of aerospace firm Rockwell Collins and will spin off its Otis elevators business and its Climate, Controls and Securities business, which would be renamed Carrier, into independent companies. After announcing plans of splitting into three separate entities, United Technologies is now reported to have one of its spin-off companies to be located in South Florida. United Technologies is composed of Collins Aerospace Systems and Pratt & Whitney which will break off from Otis Elevator Co. and climate, controls, and security company named Carrier. The Climate, Controls and Security division will be placed in Palm Beach Gardens. According to spokeswoman Ashley Barrie, this will be one of the largest public companies with headquarters in South Florida. Carrier moved into the new Center for Intelligent Buildings in April. In this 224,000-square-foot building, you can see its offices, learn about the company's history through the various displays, and an exhibit of the company's wide array of products. Overall, over 500 individuals are expected to be employed in the building. It is expected that UTC will finish its spin-off in 2020.
